The Opera Studio, co-ordinated and directed by Umberto Finazzi (musical direction) and Daniele Piscopo (direction, scenography and costumes), this year reaches its 18th edition and once again welcomes internationally selected singers, instrumentalists and conductors for an intense work of creativity, growth and artistic improvement.
The 2025 production presents “Il Campanello”, a comic opera in one act that premiered in 1836 in Naples. The plot takes place in the house of a pharmacist, Don Annibale Pistacchio, who is about to marry Serafina, a young widow. But her ex-lover, Enrico, does not give up: disguised as various characters, he spends the night ringing the pharmacy doorbell, forcing Don Annibale to continually interrupt him in an attempt to consummate the marriage.
The opera is brilliant, full of rhythm, misunderstandings and irony, with light, lively music that perfectly accompanies the comical nature of the situation.
The 7 performances will enrich the Ticino canton from July 18 to 29 in Lugano (Aula magna of the Conservatorio and Hall of the LAC), Locarno (Teatro Paravento), Bellinzona (Corte del Municipio), Sorengo (Chiosetto), Novaggio (Piazza Ferrer) and Magliaso (Parco Rivabella).
