Participation​

  1. Participants in the masterclasses are divided into two categories: active and observer. There is no limit for observer participants.
  2. Applications for active participants will be accepted until there are places available. If the course is full, it will be possible to apply to the waiting list. In any case, the teacher will make the final decision for admission to the course. Applications can also be accepted after the deadline if there are still places available.

  3. For those participants who are interested in chamber music activities, we offer the possibility to participate in chamber music ensembles, depending on the level, the availability of other musicians for the ensembles, and in agreement with the teachers.
  4. Teachers are always assisted by a professional piano accompanist.

  5. At the end of the course, a certificate of participation will be issued to all participants.

  6. Participants who will demonstrate outstanding preparation will be selected for taking part in the Festival concerts.

Application and payment

  1. Fill out the online application form and pay the application fee (which varies according to the course) with credit card, bank transfer or postal order. Bank account details for bank transfers are:

    Enrollment and accommodation (if requested) will be confirmed only after having received the application fee. The participation fee as well as the lodging costs (if applicable) must be paid by 30th June and in any case, before the courses start. The fees can be pain by credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD) through the link you will find on the confirmation email, or by bank transfer (see details above). The fees will not be refunded in case of withdrawal. We will only refund fees in the case a specific course is cancelled by the artistic director.
  2. Special offer: early bird applications receive a discount on the participation fee (important: discounts are given only if the enrolment fee has been paid before the discount deadline). See individual course pages for details.
  3. Application deadline: 31 May. After this date, applications will be possible only if places will be still available (please verify availability in each course's page)

Rights of active participants

  1. Enrolled active participants are entitled to:
    • active participation in the chosen course (individual lessons – approx. 6-7 lessons for two-week courses, 3-4 lessons for one-week courses, a discretion of the teacher – besides possible group lessons). Each teacher organizes their masterclass individually;
    • active participation in chamber music lessons and concerts (for the concerts, only on the recommendation of the masterclass teacher or of the artistic director);
    • free entrance to all Ticino Musica concerts;
    • free use of all practice rooms, instruments and material exclusively and explicitly made available to participants;
    • free participation in complementary courses;
    • free participation as listener to all other courses;

Rights of listener participants

  1. Listeners are entitled to free entrance to all courses and concerts.

Scholarships

  1. Each year, Ticino Musica offers—when financial resources are available—partial scholarships for those participants who are in need of financial support. If you believe you are one of these students, please send us a request via e-mail to info@ticinomusica.com, containing the following information:
    • your curriculum vitae (both academic and artistic)
    • proof of your personal and family financial situations
    • a recording with at least two pieces of a different period
    • indication of the amount of money you will be able to put together for the course

Lodging

  1. Lodging in private houses, starting at around CHF 100.- per week (no food included; meal vouchers are available in the restaurant). Upon request, the Festival office may share a list of people to contact.
  2. Lodging in student residence with full board: CHF 900.- (cost for 1-week courses is CHF 500).
  3. Including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Modern double or triple rooms with bathroom, kitchen, internet access and shared washing machine. Few single rooms available with extra charge. Towels are not included.
  4. Hotel: the organizers will suggest Hotel accommodation corresponding as closely as possible to the requests of the participants. Participants will have to deal with the booking procedures by themselves. Accommodation is possible in the following categories:
    A – two/three-star-hotel (CHF 120.-)
    B – one/two-star-hotel (CHF 90.-)
    C – youth hostel (CHF 50.– limited places)
    The prices are approximate, per person, per day, (two- or three-bed rooms). Single rooms, if available, cost about 30-50% more.

Meals

  1. Meals will be available at the Mensa. Tickets can be bought at the Ticino Musica Office in Lugano at the price of CHF 7.- for breakfast and CHF 14.- for lunch or dinner. For those who stay at the Student's House the meals are included. 

Pictures, audio and video

  1. By applying to the masterclasses, the participant authorises the Ticino Musica Festival to make video and/or audio recordings, to take pictures, to transmit by radio or TV broadcast any of their lessons, rehearsals, concerts or Opera presentations, organized either by the Ticino Musica Festival or by selected third party organizations or individuals. In particular, the participant surrenders to Ticino Musica all the rights of said video and/or audio recordings and pictures for any use that might be relevant to the Festival. The Festival Ticino Musica reserves the right to use all pictures, audio and video recordings for promotional purposes related to the present edition of the Festival or to future editions, or to release the audio and/or video recordings for demonstrating or promotional purposes.

Terms & conditions acceptance

  1. Enrollment to the courses implies full acceptance of these terms of participation. In the event of any disputes, the terms of participation in the Italian language shall be legally binding. Participants waive all rights to initiate legal proceedings against the Festival. For matters not explicitly specified in the terms of participation, we refer to Swiss law and especially to the Swiss Code of Obligations and the laws governing the specific matter. The present terms and conditions of participation can be changed for organizational reasons; already enrolled participants will be informed about the changes.

Information on privacy protection

  1. Under Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the Confederation’s statutory privacy laws (Data Protection Act, LPD), all persons have the right to the protection of their personal sphere as well as to the protection against misuse of personal data . We adhere to these provisions. Personal data are therefore treated confidentially and are not sold or transmitted to third parties.
  2. Our company is committed to protecting databases in the best possible way to avoid external access, loss, abuse or falsification.
  3. By accessing the Ticino Musica web page the following information is saved in log-files: IP address, date, time, browser request and general information about the operating system or browser. These usage data-points allow anonymous statistical analyzes to be carried out, so that we can recognize the various guidelines and adapt our offer accordingly.
