The Portuguese tuba player Ricardo Carvalhoso belongs to a new generation of musicians that has given new momentum to the art of tuba playing.
Apply nowPrizewinner of numerous international competitions, Ricardo currently holds the position of Tuba Solo of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and regularly gives masterclasses throughout Europe.
Before joining the Munich Philharmonic, his orchestral career had taken him to France, as a tuba-soloist of the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, and to Switzerland, where he held the same position with the orchestra of the Zurich Opera House - Philharmonia Zürich.
As an educator, Ricardo Carvalhoso taught at the University of Music “Franz Liszt” Weimar between 2021 and 2023 and currently serves on the faculty of the Haute École de Musique in Geneva.
