2025 is the year of musical bridge building: on July 31, Ticino Musica will meet the Alpentöne festival in a double concert featuring classical and folk music. On this occasion even Wassen is part of Ticino!
The Rilke Quartet, a young string ensemble already established in the European chamber music scene and Ensemble in residence of the Ticino Musica 2025 Festival, will take us on a musical journey through mountain impressions and atmospheres. From the harshness and roughness of Aria by Silvia Colasanti, an acclaimed Roman composer of our time, through the evocative landscapes of In the Mountains by Swiss composer Ernest Bloch, to the expressive depth of Quartet in E minor, Giuseppe Verdi's only chamber music composition, the quartet will explore the power and poetry of heights through the vibrant sound of the strings.
Alongside the Quartet will be the Räss-Gabriel Duo, featuring Nadja Räss (yodel) and Rita Gabriel (accordion). A little less than 15 years after their last performance, the two musicians return to the stage as a duo with a valuable wealth of musical knowledge, extensive life experience and a lot of feminine intuition. The result is an evening of yodeling entitled “Reprise,” in English “Resume.” The focus is clearly on music. New sounds and compositions will be heard, but also some older songs that have undergone a little beauty treatment. Tradition, which in itself is a feminine heritage, also finds a place in the program. Yodeling melodies by, for and about women.
A double concert between tradition and modernity that celebrates the musical and cultural richness of the mountains through the vibrant dialogue between strings and yodel.
