Pucela Brass was born in Spain and brings together five musicians united by a strong musical understanding and solid academic training. Rubén Rodríguez Duque and Luis Rodríguez Revenga (trumpets), Rafael Rivera Salmerón (horn), Diego Cordero (trombone), and Jesús Ignacio Lorenzo (tuba) are active in concert, teaching, and orchestral settings, with collaborations spanning major European orchestras and innovative chamber projects.
The program alternates pieces of great brilliance, such as Curnow's Festivo and McKee's Iron Horse, with more lyrical and contemplative pages, such as Bozza's Sonatine. There is no shortage of tributes to the Spanish and French traditions with Asturias, Suite Impromptu and an exuberant rendition of Carmen.
The Aula Magna of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, with its clear and enveloping acoustics, will provide the ideal setting for an evening of intense and engaging high-level music.
