Applications may be submitted by compliting the online application form. The following documents should be attached to the form: cv, artistic picture, audio or video recording with the programme specified below.
Application deadline: 15 January 2020
Age limit: 35 years of age (born after 16 January 1985) The jury reserves the right to make small exceptions.
First round: video or audio recording with two freely chosen arias in Italian, one of which by G. Rossini, if possible from "Il Barbiere di Siviglia".
Second round: selected singers will have to make a live audition that will take place on 29 February 2020 (1 and 2 March 2020 as reserve) at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana (Lugano). For the second round, candidates are requested to perform 2 Arias, one of which should be from Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini and 1 recitativo secco (with harpsichord accompaniment) from Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
Application fee of CHF 40.- to be paid via credit card when filling the application form. The fee will not be refunded in case of withdrawal.
Travel, board and lodging costs for the audition are to be covered by the participant.
The chosen singers are obliged to participate to all rehearsals and to perform for free at the opera events planned during the Ticino Musica Festival. A double cast will be chosen.
To some of the performances, artistic directors of selected theatres or international agents might be invited.
The singers who are not chosen will have the possibility to participate to the Ticino Musica Masterclasses at the conditions expressed in the corresponding terms and conditions. These candidates will also benefit from a 20% discount on the participation fee.
The decisions of the jury are final and binding. Legal actions are excluded.
Scene and musical preparation, and performances: 22 June 2020 to the end of July 2020 (exact dates will be provided with the audition results). The exact list of venues is still to be defined. It may be that extra performances are programmed in the weeks or months following the Festival.
The chosen candidates must come to the first rehearsal on the 22nd of June with their role fully memorized, otherwise they will be excluded from the project.
No fee is requested for the participation in the Opera Studio.
Travel costs, board and lodging during the production dates are to be covered by the participants.
The selected singers who will perform in the above-mentioned roles will receive a scholarship of CHF 1’500.- (as partial coverage for expenses).
The scholarships will be given at the end of the Opera Studio, only if singers have fulfilled all conditions.
Pictures, audio and video
By applying to the masterclasses, the participant authorises the Ticino Musica Festival to make video and/or audio recordings, to take pictures, to transmit by radio or TV broadcast any of his/her lessons, rehearsals, concerts or Opera presentations, organized either by the Ticino Musica Festival or by selected third party organizations or individuals. In particular, the participant surrenders to Ticino Musica all the rights of said video and/or audio recordings and pictures for any use that might be relevant to the Festival. The Festival Ticino Musica reserves the right to use all pictures, audio and video recordings for promotional purposes related to the present edition of the Festival or to future editions, or to release the audio and/or video recordings for demonstrational or promotional purposes.
Information on privacy protection
Under Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the Confederation’s statutory privacy laws (Data Protection Act, LPD), all persons have the right to the protection of their personal sphere as well as to the protection against misuse of personal data . We adhere to these provisions. Personal data are therefore treated confidentially and are not sold or transmitted to third parties.

By accessing the Ticino Musica web page the following information is saved in log-files: IP address, date, time, browser request and general information about the operating system or browser. These usage data allow anonymous statistical analyzes to be carried out, so that we can recognize the various guidelines and adapt our offer accordingly.
