Felix Maiwald

Felix Frank Joachim Maiwald was born in Munich. After attending the Music High School Pestalozzi, he studied at the Musikhochschule with Caius Oana and Klaus Trumpf, as well as with Slavomir Grenda, first double bass of the Münchner Philharmoniker, and Rainer Zepperitz, firs double bass of the Berliner Philharmoniker. After the diploma, he became member of the Philharmonie Südwestfalen/Landesorchester Nordrheinwestfalen, as well as scholarship holder and first double bass of the famous "Summit Music Festival" in New York (USA), getting at the same time the pedagogical diploma with a work about possible psychological dangers in playing double bass and possible prevention, an analytic teaching and fitness programme for double bassists and strings in general.

In 2006, together with the cellist and former member of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Andreas Heinig, he founded the label >hANDm records, heinig & maiwald< (since 2007 distribuited by the renowned KlassikCenterKassel) and published the first common CD "Passion Of Bass" with pieces by Rossini, Mozart, Sperger, Romberg and Bottesini.

Since 2006 he is administrative president and first double bass of the BSM-Bayerisches Symphonieorchester München, also founded in 2006, that in very short time has managed to gain the favours of the audience with recordings and live concerts at a high level, also at the Münchner Philharmonie, and to make itself a name.
