Angela Firkins
Born Tetzlaff, she studied with J.-C. Gérard (Hamburg), W. Bennett (Freiburg) and P. Meisen (Munich).
After receiving several first prizes at the competition “Jugend musiziert”, in 1985 she won a prize at the German Music Competition and in 1986 a first prize at the Competition of the Music University Schools.
As member of the Albert Schweitzer Quintet, she was awarded prizes in several competitions (German Music Competition, ARD Competition etc.)
She was awarded the price of the German recording critics, she has recorded several CDs and made also radio recordings. She plays concerts in Germany and abroad. After being for several years a member of the German Youth Orchestra, the German Youth Philharmonic and the European Comminity Youth Orchestra, she was solo flute from 1988 to 1993 of the Hamburger Symphoniker and in 1994 of the Radiophilharmonie Hannover NDR.
Since 1997, she has been professor at the University School of Music in Lübeck, where she teaches flute and chamber music. Beside her concert activity, she holds masterclasses and chamber music courses and is jury member at music competitions.
