Academy, concerts and international artists Ticino Musica in a nutshell

01 Academy

With the masterclasses, students have the opportunity to interact on a daily basis with artists with a well-established international reputation. The simultaneous offer of courses for almost every orchestral instrument provides also the opportunity for different chamber music ensembles to form. Also, the numerous concerts that take place during the two weeks of the Festival help preparing the young musicians for their future professional lives and enrich the cultural panorama of Ticino.

02 Festival

The Ticino Musica Festival stands out for its outstanding artistic offer: more than 70 events spread over two weeks and that take place all across the Canton of Ticino, including recitals, chamber music concerts, opera, contemporary music, and openclasses. All held by famous artists and young masters of the Festival who are at the beginnings of their professional career.

03 “Silvio Varviso” Opera Studio

The “Silvio Varviso” international Opera Studio is an integral part of the artistic and educational programme of the Ticino Musica Festival. Its main goal is to offer young singers the opportunity to study and interpret a full opera, so that they can put into play their talent and their capacities.

“Ticino Musica is much more than a normal Festival: it is an act of love for music. In the rooms where the masterclasses are held, and in the halls where the concerts take place, you can feel an enthusiasm and a feverish passion for music that I think I have never found in any other place. There is, I believe, a tangible joy of “making music” that goes behind the sometimes sober and aseptic atmosphere which you can usually find in academies. Ticino Musica is a fest that enriches Lugano and all the nicest places of the region Ticino. I know few other summer courses that offer such a wide range of high-level seminars, activities and concerts, not to mention the never-ending possibilities given to the participants to play on a stage” [M° Lorenzo Micheli]
